In the beginning Obama saved or created...

"Saved or created" has become the signature phrase for Barack Obama as he describes what his stimulus is doing for American jobs. His latest invocation came yesterday, when the president declared that the stimulus had already saved or created at least 150,000 American jobs -- and announced he was ramping up some of the stimulus spending so he could "save or create" an additional 600,000 jobs this summer. These numbers come in the context of an earlier Obama promise that his recovery plan will "save or create three to four million jobs over the next two years."

If the "saved or created" formula looks brilliant, it's only because Mr. Obama and his team are not being called on their claims. And don't expect much to change. So long as the news continues to repeat the administration's line that the stimulus has already "saved or created" 150,000 jobs over a time period when the U.S. economy suffered an overall job loss 10 times that number, the White House would be insane to give up a formula that allows them to spin job losses into jobs saved.

Therefore...
  • I almost went to the store to day and didn't so since I would have spent $50 on random stuff I always want to buy.. "I earned $50 for my monthly budget today"
  • I am on Atkins low carb diet. Since I would have eaten poorly and gained 5lbs by now.. "I lost 5lbs today"
  • I lost $100 in Vegas, but I had to leave early and would have lost another $200 if I had stayed therefore.. "I won $100 in Vegas!"

These of course are all legitimate statements on their own but coupled with the explanations they seem ridiculous things to claim. It's clear that a majority of people don't believe Obama's claims that he will create or save 600,000 jobs over the summer. His explanations are ambiguous and unprovable, therefore indisputable. President Bush couldn't get a break when he was doing everything right and told the truth. How long will the injustice of a pandering media carrying Obama's 'heavy water' last before the house of cards tumble?

Americans aren't stupid and only tolerant to a point. Either Mr. Obama believes he can truly deceive the mass of freedom loving Americans, or he is going to wait until staring down the angry mob at Point Blank (had to get that in there).
